Kaiser L&D, SF Bay Area

Published

I've just submitted to four Kaiser hospitals in the SF Bay Area: Walnut Creek, Oakland, Santa Clara, and San Jose. I work L&D. Does anyone have any experience here, (L&D or not)? Any feedback would be appreciated on the hospitals, specific units, or the area in general. This is my second assignment, I took the agency housing with my first one...should I take the stipend and find my own, or is SF housing too expensive to deal with? I'm traveling with a teenager and a dog.

San Fran housing is expensive...probably even more so since you have a pet and a teenager with you also.

L&D at Kaiser San Jose was just reported as excellent by a traveler in another forum. They seem to have high needs as another traveler (perhaps you) mentioned they were submitted there too. Oakland will have the lowest housing costs, but if you want to maximize your income, you should post an ad on Craigslist housing wanted detailing your needs. You might get very lucky if you are willing to share especially. But in general, travel nurses make great potential tenants because everyone knows that they can afford to pay. Look early and use agency provided housing as a last resort (assuming a good housing stipend).
