Juvenile conviction

I submitted a background check for both the state and federal level in the process of petitioning for the nursing program at my local college. My FBI and state background record are clean, however as a juvenile i was in a fight at school and ended up having a court date and had to complete community service. Should i be worried or take actions to track this information down and try to deal with it? If i nothing is coming up on both the state and federal level am i just overthinking this? Should i disclose this information to my nursing program or future employers? I served five years in the military with a honorable discharge (no issues) never had a issue getting in... will this effect my nursing future?

    Misdemeanors do not have an affect on you getting an RN license. Even felonies are overlooked if they are not violent crimes but requires a "CERTIFICATES OF RELIEF FROM DISABILITIES". I would not disclose any information unless requested. If they wanted to know they will definitely ask. Which in that situation, you need to address their requests in the most positive manner.     There is a great deal of variability between state BONs. Don't be afraid to contact your BON to obtain information specific to your state rather than relying on information that may not be relevant. Based on your description of the situation, I doubt that your adolescent problem will have any impact - but the only feedback that actually matters is from your BON.

    I called my state BON and was forwarded to the legal department. She informed me that she is not my lawyer but if the crime committed was a simple assault it could hurt my chances of getting licensed. I called the juvenial court in the county that I had my trial and they said nothing was on their records of my trial. The Bon stated that depending on the nature of the crime it may not be carried over to my adult record and that I should contact a attorney . I did and he just told me to call the juvenile court to get my information. I'm contacting one more person at the juvenile court just to make sure.

    is it possible to take my nclex in a different state other than the one I live In if I've already completed clinical rotations and have my classes done. So that I don't get hung up by my states Bon? Worst case scenario.

    Well my fear is that my misdemeanor is a violent crime, I.e. a "simple assault" for pushing that kid 10 years ago.... :blink:
