Just wondering about you guys....(I have questions)

Published

Hi everyone I was wondering a few things from all the people who just began nursing school this week......

1. I wanted to know have you all noticed in kinds of changes in your body since you've began?

You know...relating to the stress of it all. Well, I have. I have NEVER gotten hives before but I have been itching and itching since last Sunday. I also have found some new WHITE, not gray, hairs in places. I know studies say stress can't remove pigment from hair follicles but I am beginning to believe differently.

2. Has anyone noticed 'cliques' at their school?

I did not do my pre-nursing courses at this university so I don't know anyone. I am a very friendly and outgoing person however and I have no problem going up to strangers introducing myself. But these people in my BSN program give cold shoulders if they do not know or recognize you, which is very very silly to me. They only form study groups with the people THEY want to be around. I have tried with these people but I am thinking now hmmmm....I may be going through nursing school alone. Which Im thinking won't be a totally bad thing.

3. What were your pre-req's?

I am very very curious to know what pre-req's you guys had prior to being accepted into the nursing programs you're in. Something is not sitting too well with me about this university's pre'req's or program in general so I just wanted to know what level everyone else's school is on.

Cliques are going to happen no matter where you are... highschool, college/university, even at the hospitals. When I started my job as an aide, I was granted a position at two different hospitals. I ended up choosing one over the other because one really was too cliquey. All the nurses acted as if they were in highschool, even though I was a nrsg student, i was still an aide and had to sit by myself during lunch breaks and was barely spoken too.

I am taking an accelerated program, but in my city the only pre-reqs we have are highschool bio, english, and a math with at least a C grade. A&P and psych is taken during first year nursing.
