hello everyone!!
i'm new to allnurses and wanted to introduce myself. i am a "pre-nursing" student currently living in anatomy i hell! i hope to be in the lpn program very soon and will be seeking ibclc certification soon after that.
is anyone here a lactation consultant? that is really my ultimate goal - helping all babies and mommas have the best breast-feeding relationship possible. we are really deficient in lcs in my area, even though the one local medical center delivers almost 95% of babies here!
i am a momma myself with two boys (a 4 year-old and a 2 year-old) and a new baby due 8-19-06. as you might have guessed, both my boys were exclusively breast-fed even though both had significant problems with nursing. my oldest was severely tongue-tied and my youngest was premature and in the nicu for several weeks. to all nicu nurses- bless you, bless you, bless you!! i nursed #1 for 13 months and #2 for 15 months- until each of them self-weaned. baby #3 ( we are hoping for a girl :heartbeat ) will also be a breast baby.
well, enough about me and my obvious passion! thanks for listening and i look forward to getting to know you guys!
