Just took NCLEX - got the GOOD POP UP. IS IT TRUE?!

Published

Is it true?! I took my NCLEX this morning for the 2nd time and the computer shut off at 96. After taking it the 1st and failing at 75 questions, I was relieved that I passed question 75 and was still in the game! The questions I got this time around were very different compared to the first time I took it.

1st time: Not a lot of SATAs. A lot of fundamental and nursing leadership questions. Med questions. EKG strip. Few prioritization questions.

2nd time: TONS and TONS of SATAs and prioritization. One calculation med. 1 put in order question. -- yeah pretty much a lot of the questions were prioritization and SATAs.

I did the pearsonvue trick and I hope that this trick is true.. Crossing my fingers!

Congrats you're an RN! So happy for you! I failed my first time at 75q and will be taking my second time soon. What did you do differently this time? I'm super nervous but determined that this will be my last time taking the NCLEX

AH! Omg!! Thank you so much! The first time I took a Kaplan class course, all the trainers, and 86% of the qbank questions. I only studied for 2-3 weeks before the test because of a potential job offer that asked me to be licensed so early...but they told me I didn't get the job the day BEFORE the test (le, sigh). But yeah..I ONLY did Kaplan and questions.

Anyway, after I took my test and found out I failed. I let myself be sad for one day...and picked myself up and made a study plan. I got my refund from Kaplan and put it towards registering for the NCLEX and buying the Saunders comprehensive review book. I borrowed a friend's Kaplan log-in to continue doing the qbank questions, borrowed a friend's HURST review audio chapters & handouts that went along with the audio, and bought the LaCharity book.

Saunders - The nice thing is that it prints you a 6 week study plan after taking an assessment test. It organized 2-3 chapters a day throughout 6 weeks. I followed that and did the chapter review questions at the end. I liked how organized the information was and was a really good content refresher.

HURST - I listened to at least 1 audio chapter from HURST and filled out the blanks on the handouts while listening to the audio. I really feel like HURST helped me pass this time around because knowing content was so important in answering the priority questions and SATAs. It also does a great job organizing their lectures. If there was a certain chapter I was still unsure of (like endocrine -_-) I would re-listen to the lecture.

LaCharity - This book really helped me critical think in answering priority questions. Each chapter is full of questions and the rationales were great. I tried to do at least 1-3 chapters a day.

Kaplan Qbank - With everything above, I tried to do 50-200 questions a day. I read each rationale even if I got it right and if I didn't know the material, I would go into my Saunders book and study it again.

Compared to the first time I took it, I gave myself breaks. I would study for maybe 2 hours, take a break/go to the gym/hang out with friends/run errands, and then study for some more. I never studied past midnight. I gave myself some weekends off. I really paced myself compared to last time. I also filled myself with positive thoughts! I wrote sticky notes with my name and RN after it and told myself that I could do this if I passed nursing school!

I believe in you!!

Are we twins? haha I used only Kaplan my first time and failed! Now I'm using Hurst for content, Kaplan and NCSBN for Qbank, and LaCharity as well. I have the Saunders book but it's too overwhelming for me. But I am going to use it for SATA, priority and infection questions.

You definitely gave me hope since my anxiety is starting to kick in!

Congratulations RN! :D

While I'm going to say "Congratulations" I'm also going to say that you should wait about 24 hours from now before you really celebrate because you want to know if your good PVT survives the 2nd scoring. Right now you have a very good chance you've passed but there's a very slim chance that you were on the bubble between pass and fail and that definitively determined by the 2nd scoring. After that's done (and they won't tell you when they've scored it that 2nd time) your results will be updated. If it stays "pass" then you'll keep getting the good popup and if you failed, it'll flip to the CC page.

So with all that said, I say provisionally congratulations!

Thank you! I am definitely refreshing to see if my license changes to active... haha but hopefully all goes well still >,

wow, awesome! your story seems similar to mine. I failed using Kaplan the first time. now ive been studying with Saunders, Lacharity and Hurst review. I plan to take mine soon and PASS with flying colors!!!!
