Just took the DEC boards, im planning ahead, what's the next step I should take?

Whatever the results of my local board, I'm planning to take my NCLEX already. Is that a wise decision? And If I'll take the NCLEX early next year, what step should I take first?? I know it's a basic question, but I really have NO idea what should be done for applying for NCLEX, etc. Please tell me all the info like you're answering the dummies book for NCLEX taking.. ;>

I don't even know when is the exam...
