I am just beginning an ADN program but I already know that I want to work in the OR . I plan on going on with my education, but I would like to get started in the OR as soon as I graduate.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

As an OR nurse for over 10 years it is not always easy to get in the OR. First join your local chapter of AORN and use those networking connections to try to get a job as an PCT or some equivalent in the OR or PACU. Getting your foot in the door really helps. Also ask around if anyone has a Peri-Op 101 at the local hospitals.

My OR has positions for students in the OR. They learn a ton and get paid for it as well. I'd check and see if your local hospitals offer that. Or maybe try for a part time PCT position in the OR.
