Well just to tell my story. I started last Jan in an RN program that is 1.5 years long. The school took none of my prereqs from my associates degree I already have. My first semester was 19 cr hrs . This semester is 16. And the last two 18 and 19. I made it past that first and now I am continuing , I had a couple test already this semester and am doing fine so far. I also work 30 hours a week and have a daughter. I moved 3.5 hours, sold my house, and moved over break.

The school I go to is notorious for being hard around here but they have a 97% nclex pass rate.

Long story short, for anyone wanting to get into nursing, anything is possible, don't give up. Nursing school is harder tahn you can imagine, it was a shock for me. But if it's your dream you can make it happen.

I just hope I can make it! Less than a year left!

It sounds like you're very driven (in a good way), and know what you want to do.

Congrats on getting through the first semester - that had to take some "getting used to."

If you've made it this far, and keep up the motivation, you'll get through it. One Day At A Time!

Wow! You must have really good time management skills to work 30 hours, be a mother, and be in ABSN program! Keep up the good work!

you could always go into your user control panel ( https://allnurses.com/usercp.php ) and add a signature to be added to each of your posts. i'm debating about something along the lines of:

"if this post appears excessively harsh or insensitive, please be aware that crufflerjj is a member of two distinct protected classes under the americans with disabilities act of 1990. i am not only directionally impaired (just ask my wife!), but am also a sensitivity impaired male. please bear with me (i expect reasonable accommodations) as i deal with these disabilities."

There's no "maybe" to it. Near the end of your program, I'd expect you to be overwhelmed/apathetic. At least, that's how I was my final quarter. I did OK, but had to push myself harder than usual to do things WELL, rather then just doing things "good enough."

Oh! My bad!

Thank you for sharing your story/situation. I start an accelerated BSN program this fall and I'm mentally preparing myself now for the challenge that lies ahead. I always feel encouraged by stories like yours so thank you. It seems like everyone tries to psych you out telling you its nearly impossible to do anything other than study while in the nursing program...no work...no sleep...no friends...they even have me worried that I won't be able to eat or shower so thank you times a million.
