just have a question ( a little confuse here)

Nurses General Nursing

Published

so i got accepted into a nursing program and i need to do background check, cpr, immunization, and drug screen in order for me to do clinicals. I just had my blood works done last thursday and i was just wondering will that cover varicella titer, hepB titer, MMR titer???? Because i called my healthcare provider and all they have is the hepA result... now, i'm getting scared... can someone help me? Thank You So much!

Did you tell them that's what you needed? It may just be that the other results are taking longer, but only your health care provider can tell you for sure. Usually there is a form you have to have them fill out so they know which tests you need. I'm not sure how your school does it. When I did it for my program I never actually received some of the results. I just knew they were ok because my school told me I was up to date. (I did it through my school's wellness center). They may only tell you if you don't have immunity and need to get a booster shot. I actually found out that I wasn't immune to chicken pox that way. I never had it as a kid and I guess the vaccine that I had didn't last.

the nurse that gave me a TDaP shot saw the list of titers i need and just told me to have my blood works done. I called for the results today and all they have is the hepA result... GAH!!

This you will need to check with your health care provider. When I had mine done my school provided a form listing each titer individually and my provider had to sign off of each one that the test was done and the results. When you schedule your appointment you would have to tell them every shot and titer you need. Oddly the Hep was the only one you mentioned that my school didn't require, it was optional. However, if you have had these shots done before and were up to date on them, then maybe your provided saw in your records and you didn't need except the Hep? I had all the other titers done and ended up need tetorifice and varicella shots, all of the cost about $600 so perhaps that can give you a rough estimate of what you had done. I mean if your total was just like $50 then you probably only had one thing done.

you have to asked whoever ordered the blood work what was ordered. Some tests are "send outs" and take longer.
