Just passed TEAS with 95%

I want to share with all of you a few observations. First, I paid the $115.00 for the ATI TEAS test prep package. That is quite high compared to other test prep packages and the program itself comprises only a paperback book and two online practice exams. There was no online material such as videos or tutorials. That said, it must have prepared me well because my highest score on any practice exam was 82%. For the science portion, I supplemented with Khan Academy videos. I was particularly concerned about that section since it does cover a wide breadth of subject matter. Here are the main concepts that I found it helpful to review:

Mitosis

Meiosis

Cell structure and function (emphasis on prokaryotic vs. eukaryotic)

Scientific method

A & P--especially digestive system and immune system

Mendelian genetics (know your Punnett squares)

Inter- vs. intra- molecular bonds--non-polar covalent, polar covalent and ionic for the former. Hydrogen bonding, Van der Waal's, dipole for the second.

In the end, a high TEAS score isn't going to get you anything beyond passing the test and I feel like I could have been using that time more productively (I still have DSST exams to take.) I guess my takeaway would be: prepare, but don't stress. Hope this helps.

How prepared did you feel or know you were before you began prep? I am dreaming of a score in the 90s.

I was fairly confident that I would pass. My desired program requires a 68 and I was getting in the low 80s on the practice exams. Math, Reading and Language Usage sections are tests of basic skill. The wild card, so to speak, was the science portion. It does cover a wide range of subjects including earth science, botany, chemistry, microbiology and biochemistry so you would do well to familiarize yourself with the main concepts in each area....and then hope for some good luck when they draw out of the question pool.

I was not prepared at all, because the decision to write the exam happened in a space of one week. Between, i had a lot other commitments in school. I just wanted to have a fore knowledge of it. Ok i did not do well not because the exam was really tough, but the computer messed up the Reading section for me. I ended up with an overall 74.5%, 57.1% Reading, 83.3% Science, 77.3% Use of English, and 83.3% Maths. All i did was a one time online practice test and nothing more before the exam. The best advice i will give you is read well and try to resurrect every residual knowledge you have in those sections i mentioned. You will definitely be fine. Wishing you the best!!!
