I am not an expert in this field, but wanted to give all of you a big note of thanks who are. Three weeks ago I reinjured my back, following two ESI's for treatment of severe degenerative disc disease. It was the Monday after Christmas, and I began having severe spasms after being at work for only a few hours. My PCP would not see me "because he doesn't treat back problems", and my back specialist couldn't see me for two days, because he was completely booked. Out of desperation, I drove myself to my pain management doc's office. And, Even though it had been three months since he had last seen me..and seeing what agony I was in, now, he gave me a prescription for Lorcet Plus and Soma Compound, which enabled me to survive until I could be reevaluated by my back specialist, who sent me back to my pain management doc. I had my third ESI done yesterday, and while the procedure itself is not a pleasant one. he and his nurse took care of me as if I were the only patient they had to see all day (they had at least 10 others scheduled for ESI's). His nurse monitored me like a hawk, during the next 30 minutes, and, before I left his office, he made sure that I had the medication I needed, for the next two months...and let me know that he was available in the interim, if I needed him.
That is what doctoring and nursing is supposed to be all about, and I just wanted to take a moment to salute you guys, who make it your business to keep poor souls like me out of pain!:kiss

They are WONDERFUL! It's very comforting to know that I have someone on MY side, in these days of being pushed through the Health Care System, as if you were ordering a hamburger and fries!:)
