Just moved to Ohio- how to become a nurses aid in Akron?

Published

I just recently moved here to Akron, OH from Massachusetts and was interested in becomming a nurses aid before I decided on becomming an LPN/RN. Only thing is, I am not familiar with the area and was wondering if they have programs here where you can apply to work at a hospital or nursing home and they will pay for your training. Otherwise, I think the course costs $600 ? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Just saw an add in a Columbus paper for training for STNA classes. I know that is not your area but in a town like Akron, there should be someplace you can get free training for working at a facility. Good luck.

Specializes in MDS coordinator, hospice, ortho/ neuro.

Anna Maria of Aurora, which is relatively near Akron, has free training for STNA's. 330-562-6171.

There are other nursing homes that offer training also, but you'd have to call around.

Specializes in long term care.

I did my classes at Bath Manor on Smith Rd., in Akron, It was 2 weeks then you work for them and then the State Testing is done in the facility. It was great because a lot of places have you go elsewhere for the testing. The pay was $8.52 then. Five years ago. Give them a call.
