Hello all,
I am overwhelmed on where to begin with helping to my sister-in-law work & live here in USA. She is a RN in the Philippines, had passed the CGFNS and currently working in ICU. I had called an agency to ask how they can help petition her. They told me that she needs to take TOEFL,TSE & IELTS. First question, does she need tp take all of these tests? or one of those 3 tests? She also needs to apply for the VIsa Screen Certificate. How long does this certificate usually take? When do we apply? after taking & passing all the above tests? or during, or before? My sister-in-law mentioned also taking the NCLEX. Does she needs NCLEX on top of all the tests I mentioned? Sorry for all the questions. I am a little confused and overwhelmed. Any suggestions/replies will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

All that I can say is that if that agency is giving you the wrong information already, run as fast as you can away from them. The exams that you have mentioned are actually just English exams. She can take either the TOEFL seires, which is TOEFL, TWE, and TSE together in one exam, or the IELTS series, the academic branch with the speaking section.
And yes, to work in the US, she will need to take and pass the NCLEX exam, but you cannot sit for that until you get permission from a state to sit for it. NCLEX is actually the last step in the licensing process.
And she will need either the CGFNS exam or the NCLEX exam, as well as one of the English exam series to get a Visa Screen Certificate.
I suggest that you read the stickies that I have written on the International forum, they will assist you with all of these questions that you have.
Thank you again, suzanne! I had also posted in the International forum. My update about my SIL is there also. You're right about the agency I had contacted..they need to straighten out the information they are giving people. They were not very helpful at all to me. They just made more confused than I already was. You, on the other hand have given me useful info. I appreciate them vrey much!
