Just graduated, Question about qualifications when applying for jobs

Hi, I just graduated in December from a ADN program in December and right now I only have my provisional license, and my state requires I pass the nclex and work 120 hours before I get my full licensure. My questions is when applying for jobs, I see a lot of the job requirements say that active licenses are required, so is my provisional license a active license, or am I immediately disqualified from these jobs. Thanks!!

It shouldn't disqualify you. It might be a state-by-state thing but I had interviews before i took the NCLEX. If the hospital has a graduate nurse program (which it seems, few hospitals still do) you could start working now. Likely, if you get an interview and it goes well, you could be offered the job contingent upon you passing boards. They would then hold the job for you until you take the NCLEX. If you didn't pass, then the job would probably go to someone else. Hope this helps.

in your state i suspect that it will not be a problem since this is typical of all new grads. other states, where provisional license do not exist, your application will be a problem until you have a license. contact your local facilities and see if you are able to apply for rn positions with a provisional license. by the way, if you are unable to find a job to get your 120 hours, then move to a state that does not have this requirement, obtain a nursing license in the new state, then move back and apply as a rn with a license from another state. gl!
