Just graduated as LPN in the Philippines

Published

Hi Everyone,

Im a newbie. I just finished LPN program in the Philippines. Im also a green card holder, US immigrant. I dont know where I want to apply my license yet since i heard a lot of bad comments and bad news about LPN program in the Philippines. I studied for two years and it makes me angry that all this hardship will just go to waste if i cant able to work as a nurse in the US. I dont want to question my school integrity since i heard that they are some who graduated from my school who is already working in US as an LPN in California so that means this people are either green card holder or US citizen who studied in the Philippines. I tried closing my ears on everything that i read here and heard bad things about LPN in Manila, my concern is what state can i apply for my license if they allowed GC holder to work in the US? I need information on this so bad. Is there anyone here can help or guide me. I will be coming back soon after graduation in May and i will greatly appreciate any information that will help me on this journey. I love being an LPN...I know a lot of RN here who doesnt have a job and cant pass the local board and all they do is degrade LPN which in some case WE LPN are better than you..I am just tired with all this RN saying stupid things about LPN where in fact we should be getting along and helping each other since we are all in one profession...NURSING..thanks..and god bless!!!:nurse::typing

So what if it takes so long for them to evaluate my credentials. I dont have a problem with it. SO you dont have to make it a point. The most important thing to me is I graduated and finished the program in Manila. And this is two years of schooling and being in Manila.

6 months , one year doesnt bother me. As long as they evaluate it. Thats all that matters. Why do you always discouraged as to apply in the US?? Do you have anything against LPN or foreign LPN?

Why cant you just be happy for us and help if thats what you intend to do here...HELP..not to put us down because of our education. Does'nt matter how long does it takes..I will still get there in one point. I will still get the license that i want. Just be happy...:specs:

thats true some people here they always discourage US based student to take LPN program in the Philippines, instead encouraging them and helping them what to do next, but threatened them. I am a US citizen came here in manila to take care my grandpa while going lpn school. every body have different personal reason. the only question I asked despite from the negative facts in the forum, that we LPN graduated in the Philippines can get license. pls dont answer me about immigration COZ I was born and raised in US. thanks

Both of you are missing out point, and the fact remains that one is unable to get a visa to work in the US if they go thru that training and the majority that are going thru it are not US citizens or green card holders either. And the schools there are telling them that they can get a visa to work here, and that is not the case.

Just because you decided to attend school there for whatever reason, and those reasons belong to you; but the fact remains that the Philippine government does not even recognize the training there for licensure. Why in the world would someone wish to get training where it is not even accepted by the government of that country?

And then add into it the fact that many locales here are doing away with hiring LPNs/LVNs in the hospital setting and that is what most prefer.

I also find it interesting that one went to attend school there but was not even aware of the licensing requirements for the US before they even started. From talking about having to take the TOEFL exam, etc., means that you were unaware of anything about getting licensed over here and the fact remains that getting a job here with that training is not going to be as easy as you think since things are done so very different over there from the US.

Best of luck to you, but I would take the time to do some reading here about what you are up against. And if you happen to do some reading on the Philippine Forum you will see that there are also many Filipino RNs that are working here that have the same views that I do.

You are welcome to do as you please, which I am sure that you are going to do, but the fact remains that there are going to be problems.

Since this is no longer about the requirements for working here in the US, since by now you have taken the time to do some reading here, this thread is being closed since it has been well discussed on the Philippine forum here. And there is nothing new to add to this conversation.

You were never threatened so do not even state that. But the fact remains that you were not even aware of the requirements for licensure in this country before you started your program or when you completed it.
