Well I'm 30. Pain for last 18 months. Finally went to doctor and I have avn with collapse. They are talking thr. I'm young and don't want this, but from what I have read and researched, thr is the way to go. My question for you ortho nurses is...what have you all scene? Quick recovery? I know my Crossfit days are over, or not?? Should I push it off as long as possible? About to start np school, and my ICU experience we didn't do a lot of hips. Especially on 30 yo. Just little shocked still that after losing 40 lbs over last 2 years I get hit with this. Thanks for advice in advance

We normally do not give medical advice here. I'm not going to give you medical advice at all. Orthopedic RN's won't likely see a THR patient long enough to really give good advice, even if they could as they don't normally see THR patients long enough for long-term rehab advice.
I would suggest that you check with a good physical therapist, and possibly one that specializes in both THR rehab and athletics. You want one of those because they'll be one of your best chances of return to work with the best strength possible.
What I will tell you is that, for a while, you will lose your proprioceptive sense for your AVN hip after surgery. Your body will adapt and learn different ways to tell you where, and what, your artificial hip is doing while moving.

I am sorry you are going through this...as per the Terms of Service we cannot give medical advice. I have found some resources for you. Medscape requires registration but it is free. I knew a nurse with this condition, had a hip replacement and worked for an additional 20 years.
