Just curious

Published

I am not looking to reenter the nursing field, just curious as to how difficult it would be to reenter the hospital work force. I have been out of Hospital nursing for 25yrs. I worked in a hospital for approx. 6yrs. I am now in my 50's. Just wondering with all the new technology, and rules how difficult would it be to reenter the work force. I would think that only having 6yrs. hospital experience, it would take more than just a refresher course to get me up to speed functioning in a hospital setting. I also believe my age would be looked at as a deterrent in getting hired. Would be interested in hearing your opinions. Thanks

I don't think your age would be a deterrent. I started out as an LPN in '83, got my RN in '88, so I have an idea what you were working with back then vs now. Yeah, you would need a refresher, particularly in pharmacology I'd think.

You should go for it, you have alot to offer and a wealth of life experience to boot.

Let us know how this works out for you :)
