Hi all,
i need some help! Me and hubby went for vacation in florida last week for a week and loved it so much we decided to buy a house..... i know.....:)
I am a new graduate with three monts experience in orthopedics. I am open to all areas, i.e. med-surg. If youa re familiar with the area (the townhouse we bought is few minutes away from gandy blvd and 75 so were in the middle of tampa, st. pete and clearwater. I also went for an interview at brandon hsopital .... i like it but it seems far away. Do you know any hospital to start my career that is not a bad driving distance from our place?
I'm really excited to move. Just came back to new york an hour ago and cant wait to go back.
thanks alot.....
3rd shift guy, if you are in there, i need your input please. I read in some posts that you are in st. pete right now.... thanks :)

If I lived in St. Pete, I'd work here. :)
PS When you get to the site, click on "Career Opportunities," and then the nurse logo and see the film. It'll tell you why.

Hi Paula! I am indeed in St. Petersburg. I've only worked on one hospital since I've been here. I'm partial to the larger non-profits like Bayfront Medical Center and St. Antony's in St. Petersburg or St. Joseph's and Tampa General in Tampa, and Morton Plant in Clearwater is a good choice, but from where you are you have to go through some wicked traffic to get there. The St. Pete hospitals are very easy to get to from where you are. These are excellent places for new grads because there is a lot of choice and a variety of patients. So if you find you don't like ortho you can move on to something else and stay at the same hospital.
The only one's I've heard horror stories about are Helen Ellis in Tarpon Springs and Largo Medical Center in Largo. I haven't heard much out of Brandon, other than it's usually busy even during the summer.
Feel free to PM me if you want to specifically hear about where I work. Welcome to Florida!
thank you guys for your help!!!!
will pm you soon. What's the difference of salary between tampa gen and morton? working conditions? Glad to know that they are near my place (accdg. to mapquest around 12-15 miles respectively.) I checked Morton too and they have a good orthopedic and neuroscience unit so im excited.
thanks again. If you need any info about NYC, let me know....:)

Hello. I now live in SW Virginia, but I lived in Bradenton for 9 years. I was very impressed with Bayfront Medical Center. My youngest child was born there.
