Just accepted into JJC's nursing program. Now what?

Hi *jacks*. I am currently a 1st semester student at JJC. There really isn't much that you can do to get prepared. If you have the reading list, I guess you could start reading from the books. Most of it didn't make much since until I got to lecture. (I didn't have any healthcare experience before this.) Just be prepared to study hard and work hard. It's not that the material is terribly difficult, it's just an INCREDIBLE amount of stuff to learn. It's good to know how you learn because you will need to know in order to make good use of your time. There is a lot of reading and it will be nearly impossible to keep up with all of it. I suggest that, if you can, skim through the readings and then go to the lectures. Only read in-depth on the things that you don't understand. It doesn't work for everyone, but it may save you a little bit of time and stress. I know it isn't much, but I hope it helped a little.

I'm a 3rd semester student at JJC. My suggestion is to clean your house and get everything else that is important done now. Once nursing school starts it is your life! Don't bother reading or anything now, just enjoy your free time while you still have it! I don't mean to scare you or anything, I'm just trying to give you a heads up. I do suggest doing the readings that are assigned and I highly recommend checking out nursingmadeincrediblyeasy.com and consider subscribing to their magazine. It will be a great resource and also use the skills lab to practice everything!

I wonder if you could please let me know how are the clinicals at JJC (2nd and 3rd Semester). Is it hard? Are the instructors helpful? Are their mean? Does anybody fall in clinicals?

I am terrified about clinicals, I have had a very bad experience and a previous- current program, that actually made me sick!

Also how many semester you go if you're already a LPN?

I just got accepted into the program - Spring 2013. How do you memorize all these drug names? I saw a NCLEX RN drug book.
