Just accepted into Barry University's traditional BSN program!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello All!

Let me first just say, this is my first post, and if someone posted something like this previously, please forgive me :chicken:. I recently just completed my my A.A.S. degree in medical assisting. I was taking all my pre-requisites while studying to be a M.A. at the same time. I was a non-traditional student, and earned my GED through college credits through my institution (Monroe College Bronx,NY). I worked extremely hard to maintain a great GPA, and can proudly say I will be graduating with Summa Cum Laude! :roflmao:

When my journey at Monroe College was coming to an end, I decided I wanted to fulfill my original dreams, and go away to college for nursing, like I've been aspiring to do ever since my Dad was being treated then passed away from leukemia. Colombia University's nurses were amazing there, and helped me find my true passion in life! Healthcare!

So I guess this was kind of a introductory post as well. LOL.

However, I wanted to know if any of you have attended Barry's BSN program?

Anyone from out of state preferably? Only because I would be re-locating,

and dorming down there. However, anyone who has attended your response is still very much appreciated. As for financial aid, I am deemed independent by the govt. (I'm 24) due to absenteeism of my mother. I would like to know if they assist with finances for expenses while looking for a job?

Last question I promise! LOL.

Did you have to take the TEAS or entrance exam? I already have 69 credits.

Thanks!

-Andre, C.M.A

Let me know !!!!

I spoked to her and she told me that we do have to take a test, but it is to see if we need extra help in English. This test would not determine if we are accepted to the program. She told me she would get me started with the test after I am done with my pre req. and in the program. The test is just to provide extra help with tutors for those who may need it. Anyone starting this fall?

Hey i took the pre-reqs at barry.

What questions do you have about Biomedical Eithics? I just finished the course this past May !

Hey i am starting the BSN program this fall ! i also took the EAT test if you have any questions !

Hi everybody

I got accepted at Barry I'm going to star this fall 2013. Last Friday teresa navarro told me that we all need to present the (EAT) English assessment test which includes math and English. I'm looking for books that help me to get prepare for it, but I can't find any. Let me know if someone have an idea if there is a good book or guide that I can use. Thank you

Hey !

I will also be starting in the fall.

I took the EAT. It is only English. Basic vocab, reading comprehension, and an essay. I didnt study anything before it, its just basic english skills to make sure that you understand the language.

As for the math , that will be during orientation in Aug.

Hi Selvia I'm going to star this fall too. I have't take the eat test yet, but I have talk other students and they told me that is not a easy test, because there are 20 min for 80 questions. I bought some of the books and I'm waiting the get my scrubs, the new ones arrived in aug. The only think that it worries me is the health care insurance but I think I know what company I'm going to choose. I have my back ground check ready as well as the annual health form with all the immunizations.

let me know if you have any questions too. I would like to know if you remember some of the EAT questions

Thank you

looking forward to meet you in fall

Hey nice to meet u !

The EAT test is easy , the problem is that they dont give you a lot of time for the questions. But the vocab words are basic english words. The reading is just a random story you read and answer questions (ex: how old is john in the passage?). As for the essay part , it was more like a college app essay (ex: life experiences or why you want to become a nurse) I heard before hand that it was hard too, but its only if your english skills are poor.

And what about the scrubs? Are we already suppose to order them ?

what section did you sign up for? I chose section 1 !

ill be happy to update you with any other info i hear
