Jumping the Gun

Yeah yeah I know I am asking some questions a little early (not even in nursing school yet) but I am pursuing CRNA and am wondering if they are marketable in foreign countries or not. Can they work overseas? Is the pay the same? My husband and I may move to France within the next 10 years or so and was curious!

Do a search on the IFNA (Intl' Fed of Nurse Anesth.) I know that something is in the works to accredit US schools Internationally so that foreign students can come to the US recv' education and return an work to there home country. The opportunity for US educated CRNA's from Intl accred programs would be able to go and work in foreign countries. The reverse is probably not going to be as easy, if a CRNA educated in a foreign country would have a lot more difficulty coming to work in the US. This information has been conveyed to me by my program director who is part of the IFNA and is working to accredit US programs Internationally.

Check out the international nurses forum. The general answer is "no" unless you work on a US military base. You'll get a lot of info on that forum.
