wow, this is my home town! I dont live there anymore, its just funny to see the post since its a small town. Id love to hear some information about it though, since me and hubby are considering moving back there. I heard at one point they were offering a 20k sign on bonus. The main thing I miss about JC is the cost of living!
Oh, I thought you lived there. It is my hometown too and we are talking about moving back. You heard JC is offering a bonus? They called me last week and no mention of a bonus, especially 20K - the only people I have heard offering a bonus like that is the military. ;(

I worked there briefly as a travel nurse and I will never work there again. I was on a med-surg floor working 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. There is very little support. You have to draw your own blood labs and I had patients that had labs drawn every 6 hours. Did alot of admissions that were very time consuming since you have to put all of the orders into the computer yourself. There were nights we had no patient care tech so in additon to our nursing duties we were patient care techs. It's a teaching hospital so you meet alot of interns and residents many of them from foreign countries. They were nice people but very difficult to understand. It's a magnet hospital but I don't understand why the nurses had to do so much more work. In addition, as the only RN on the floor I had to push all of the medications. I was constantly giving pain medications. The work load was overwhelming. None of the travel nurses I met while I was there was happy with that hospital.
P.S. Forgot to mention that I was absolutely in love with that area of Tenn. Hope to eventually make Eastern TN my home someday - probably the Knoxville area.
