Hi, is there anyone out there who has been accepted to the direct-entry MSN/MPH program at Johns Hopkins for 2014? If so, how did they notify you - phone, email or snail mail? Good luck to everyone who has applied!

I haven't but your post intrigued me. I have applied to a few MSN/MPH dual degree programs, still waiting to hear. I'd love to hear more about your education/work experience or why you are interested in both. It seems like there aren't many of us out there!

I'm summer entry accelerated BSN-MSN/MPH still waiting to hear back about my application. I talked to the admissions office last week and they said that they had made decisions on the BSN and the MSN portions of my application but they were still waiting on the School of Public Health about the MPH decision. That's the hold up on hearing acceptances.

@star2601 I agree, there aren't enough of us! Well, I always knew I wanted to go the NP route. I had a lot of clinical experiences with Family Nurse Practitioners in my undergrad, and the work they did was inspiring to say the least. The MPH came about after I graduated. I worked in a regional Emergency Department for a year and became quickly disillusioned with the expectation of quick patient turnover. I felt like I never had a chance to actually be with my patients and get to know them. So, in hopes of experiencing something different, I joined the Peace Corps. It became very clear how nursing and public health easily complemented each other. And so here I am, a MSN/MPH hopeful! Where else have you applied? Good luck with all your applications! The waiting is the worst part!

@staceynRPCV: Thanks for the update! Also, it's always nice to meet another RPCV!

The wait is brutal. I applied to some straight FNP or PNP programs as well. But for dual degrees, I applied to NYU, Yale and Columbia. They are all reaches for me as I didn't have a stellar GPA, so I'll be happy just to receive one acceptance letter! Did you apply to any other schools?

Yeah, I applied to Emory as well. But, their program starts in the Fall so I assume I won't hear anything back from them until March-ish. And don't worry about GPAs, every admissions committee I've spoken too has reassured their applicants that they look at applications with a holistic approach.

Have you heard from Hopkins? I applied to the MSN-NP/MPH program and already did my interview about two weeks ago but haven't heard anything.. :/

I too applied to the MSN/MPH program at Hopkins. When I interviewed I was told it would be about 2 weeks before a decision would be made. Unfortunately, when I called to speak with admissions they informed me that it would be longer. According to admissions there is a committee that meets to review applications and make admissions decisions. I was told that committee would be meeting sometime this week (2/24-2/28), and decisions would be posted about 2 weeks after. I'm hoping the turn around time is quicker than that though. I can't help but feel overwhelmed with the idea of receiving an acceptance and having to quit my job and move to Baltimore in just a couple months since the start date is 6/1/14.

Hi everyone,

I was accepted to Columbia for the MPH portion, but now have to wait 3-4 weeks to hear from nursing! I wish I knew what my chances were. I am in the process of getting a new job that requires me to move 5/6 hours away, which is my back up plan if I don't get in, but I am worried the timing won't be right and I'll have to take the job before hearing back from nursing.

Hey, has anyone heard back about the MSN/MPH program yet?

I heard back a few weeks ago but was just recently contacted about financial aid/scholarships from the school of public health. The School of nursing still has to process all the financial aid info so I haven't received any final financial aid reports. I just visited University of Michigan's school of public health, which was great, but where I wouldn't have the MSN along with the MPH. I'm definitely leaning towards Hopkins, but I'm not sure if getting both the MSN & MPH justifies the price tag.
