Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing (MSN) Spring 2023

Published

Hi all! Just wanted to create a topic for JHUSON's MSN Entry into Nursing program for the entering class of Spring 2023. Has anyone submitted their application yet?

I have applied :) I applied early-decision, so I am hoping at getting a response back early next month. Fingers crossed for us both!!

I applied too! We’re supposed to hear back this month right?

Yes! I was told early September ?

Hi! I’ve heard back from JHU and am trying to decide between their MSN program and the ABSN program at Duke. Anyone else in a similar boat? Or have thoughts on pros and cons for either program? Thanks so much!

I got into both too! I decided on Duke because the program is shorter so I can start working sooner, and because I like the Durham area better than Baltimore.

That’s great, congrats! Do you know what you want to do after getting your RN? And did you talk to any students to get a feel for the programs?

I am having similar feelings about Durham vs. Baltimore and the shorter program vs. longer, but I have more connections + friends/family in Baltimore area, and JHU would be cheaper with scholarship.

I know I want to become an NP eventually, but I want to make sure I get lots of experience as an RN first. I haven't talked to students in either program, but I visited Duke's campus and it was really beautiful and the people were friendly.

I probably would have had a more difficult decision if I had people I knew in either city. But since I'm a young woman who will be living alone, I'd rather live in a place that's safer. That scholarship money from JHU would've been nice though. I'm still waiting to hear if I got a scholarship/any aid from Duke.

Hi, when did you hear back? I applied Jul 1 and was told this week.

I heard back last Friday, 9/2. And @seb160 that makes a lot of sense. I’m leaning more and more towards Duke. Will you be in the ABSN class starting January ‘23?

I got in today! 2.98 GPA, all A’s/A- for pre-reqs, which I took at Hopkins. I have also worked in clinical research for 2 years since getting my B.S. and got an 87.3 on my TEAS. My essay probably got me in - my dad was a patient at Hopkins which inspired me to pursue Nursing. I felt terrible about my video interview and also had pretty awful grades So/Jr years of college. I also got a $15,000 scholarship after forgetting to file my FAFSA LOL so not a ton of aid. Hope this info helps other applicants!

I also got in today!
