Hi all,

This thread is for anyone accepted into the Hopkins DNP PMHNP - Fall 2024 cohort. I'd love to meet everyone and pool ideas about financial aid, job options (if any), and possibly share housing for remote on-site immersions. Current students or noncommitted Fall 2024 are welcome too. Welcome post-grads who would like to offer sage advice as well.

Please start with an intro!

1) Have you committed to the program yet (I know financial aid packages are expected to be sent out next Friday)?

2) Would you attend remote (with in-person intensives) or in-person? If remote, where do you live?

3) What type of experience do you have as an RN? What would you like to do with your DNP PMHNP?

4) In what setting would you like to practice or population you'd like to work with?

5) Where did you get your BSN or Masters?

Feel free to add a fun fact or anything else you'd like to talk about. Let's get to know each other!

How is everyone holding up? Has anyone had an update on when financial aid packages will be sent?

Hi! I've been accepted to JHU, UVA, and GW, and I'm currently weighing my options. I'm leaning towards JHU because the curriculum seems strong, but the cost is quite steep, especially since I didn't receive any merit scholarships. I live in DC, so I'm planning to attend the in-person event on the 8th before making my final decision.

I have almost 5 years of nursing experience, 1.5 of those years being inpatient adult psych, which I really enjoy! I graduated from MSU Denver in 2019 and lived in Denver for about 6 years before relocating to DC due to my husband's job. I do miss the Rockies!!

I haven't heard anything about the financial aid packages. I check out the sis portal occasionally, and I don't see anything there yet. I'm predicting to only get loans, but we will see.

Sorry, I don't know many of the schools you mentioned. Where is GW, UVA, and MSU (Michigan State? Not in Denver, though...). Yay! I'm excited that you have done in-patient psych. Our mental health resources here are so sparse that there are very few opportunities to work in MH/BH until you want to commute an hour each way (over 2 mountain passes). If you choose JHU, I'd love to pick your brain about your inpatient experiences.

The SIS portal updated tonight. Now the financial aid section has information in it (but not the FA packages yet). I think that's a good sign!

An update on Financial Aid: I was on the FA webinar today, and the Director said they received FAFSAs mid-week and have begun sending awards. He said he would send more out today and would work over the weekend to send more out. He expects to get them finished by 4/17 (Wed). If you haven't submitted your deposit yet and would like an extension on the 4/15 deadline, contact admissions. They are making exceptions due to the unique situation with FAFSA this year.
