That's great to hear @gracejeter! I've had a good experience so far taking my prereqs at JTCC. After reading some of these forums, I'm a little worried about my stats to get in! I have a previous BA in Art History (when, if I'm being honest, I didn't really care about grades)! So, I don't have a great GPA from my undergrad, but I also didn't have to take many sciences while I was getting that degree, so not much transfers over. At John Tyler, I've gotten all A's in A&P I and II and in Development Psych. I'm currently taking Microbiology. I did well on the TEAS (in the 90's for both sections they look at). I thought I was a good applicant, but now it's just hard to tell what puts me in good standing or not.
I'm not sure if they look at the GPA from the previous bachelor's degree, but having one may help. I have a BS in business and while I had a high-ish GPA from that, I don't think that was considered. They probably only look at the grades from the 5 required classes for admission and TEAS scores. Like you, I did really well on my TEAS test and got all A's in those three classes plus like an A or B in the math they took for the requirement (either my old Calculus or Stats--I didn't take Math 158). You seem like you have great stats, so I wouldn't worry! I know waiting is hard, but just enjoy this time off because if you are accepted, it's busy busy!
@rwc29 I got notification 6-8 weeks for admission to the Spring 2015 class. I didn't get in because my previous degree's A&P didn't transfer and meet the prerequisite requirements. Thankfully I already planned to re take it to understand it better. My advisor told me that was my only issue. My prerequisite GPA was about 3.6 (now even better) and my TEAS is in the 90s. I image you have a very good chance especially if you live in the direct service area.
Hi, They are only going to look at the 5 classes needed to get into the program (eng 111, bio 141, sdv, psy 230 and mth 158 and your teas score. I completed my pre-nursing cert with a gpa of 3.5 but that doesn't count. Unfortunately with only those 5 classes my gpa is lower it's a 3.35. That is the gpa they will rank me with. I think it so unfair that they don't look anything else but hey who said life is fair. Good luck on getting into the program. It looks like you have a pretty good chance.

I recently applied to John Tyler's program for fall 2015 admission. Does anyone know what the admission notification deadline is or about how long it usually takes to hear about admission? Thanks!
