I had an incident in 2008 where I was convicted of assault on a police officer - misdemeanor. I had the charge expunged, but am told that since it was a guilty conviction, it will still come up when a background check that requires fingerprints is done. I made a mistake, but it is still there. I went to anger management counseling, continue to do Meals on Wheels regularly, etc. Realistically, what are the chances that I will get to take the test for nursing, then actually get hired any any hospital? I don't want to waste my time, if this is not a realistic endeavor. Candor is greatly appreciated. Thank you

There is no 'universal' standard because licensure is governed by each state's Board of Nursing. You need to check with the BON for your state.
