A lot will depend on where abouts in NS you want to live, what experience you have and what you are looking for job wise. I am seeing less and less jobs advertised although still some are advertised. careerbeacon.com would be a good place to start

thanks silver for ur reply.i dont mind any place in canada to work initially.i have 1.7years experience in icu from india.currently am in ireland with my family, trying to get registered with anbord, but time consuming.my wife also a nurse, works here in ireland.would love to work in canda and grow professionally.i uploaded my cv in some health authorities in ns,but no intimation from any1 yet.anyway thanks very much for your reply.could you plz tell me how is the working environment in canada compared to uk,in ur point of view?i guess there is not much difference between uk and ireland healthcare system..

I am not working at the moment and I know where I live in NS there are no jobs currently advertised for nurses and I am currently looking and moving really isn't an option for me. If you have ITU experience then really I think Halifax is the place to be looking in NS (not sure about Truro) Canada is a big place so you need to decide where you want to live. It does take time for people to get back to you but also you may find it easier leaving it a few weeks and then ringing them up to check they received your resume. Networking does appear to be the in thing so if you can get out here for a visit may also be worth doing and arranging informal chat in places

thanks again silver.its great to know u are from ns only.my wife is really hesitant to move to ns,giving cold weather over there in nova scotia.i am planning to live in nova scotia itself where i get job,for time being.i did recieve some replies each time when i submitted cv saying its succesfully submitted and they will contact me if i get selected for interview.but none yet!!!i have two years time to write crne, can apply for temporary registration too..

The weather does vary and winter 2009 was a lot different and not as cold as 2008. I would say it is a different cold to the UK and many times I was out walking my dogs in -15 where in the UK you wouldn't get me out in -5

You may want to consider coming over, sitting CRNE and looking for work. CRNE is held in Halifax so you could combine it with a reccie

thanks siver once again for your valuable information.the website which u have given was great, alot of vacancies in ns,jus applied..dont knw hw many will reply..fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!thnks

Hi there,

I am an IEN too and in fact currently licensed in Nova Scotia. All the acute care facilities never contacted me back apart from the acknowledgement I received on submission of job applications.I got replies from Nursing agencies offering me full time jobs but once I told them I require an LMO for them to file in my behalf, they never respond back.I got one LTC facility who finally said will take me fulltime Nights and willing to apply for my LMO but up to this time since April when I had the interview and they accepted me,that elusive LMO has not been filed yet.Lots of rreasons they are giving me,not enough advertisement, etc etc...Really frustrating ...
