Jobs in North Dakota

Published

Hi All,

I am just wondering how the job market is for new grads in North Dakota? I checked out Trinity Hospital in Minot and there seems to be a lot of jobs posted, although that does not mean they are filling them! Most of the positions state "experience preferred, but not required". It is nice to see this as most of the hospitals I've been searching require experience.

Specializes in ICU.

From what I have heard and researched the market for RN's in ND is labeled as "in demand." Because of the oil boom in the western part of the state, the whole state has gone into job need overload. I have a number of friends who are working there in the oil industry and they said there are thousands of jobs in the state. People are flooding there from all over the county. More people means more healthcare needs which in turns means they need more nurses. From what I have read online trinity health is kind of desperate for nurses. If you are a new grad and want a job this could be your best option. Plus you can probably have your pick of what area you want to work in. This is unlike any other state. If you don't mind the cold, go for it. Not to mention I have met a number of people from ND and they have been some the nicest people I have ever met. Seems like a great state to live in. But word of cation, do not take a job until you have an apartment or house lined up for sure. Because of the flood of people the housing market is CRAZY! It is nearly impossible to find a place to live, and don't forget supply and demand laws, i.e. it's going to be expensive to live there. One option to find out for sure what you likelihood of getting a job is to call Trinity's HR department and ask what would be available for you and when your on the phone, you can get some first hand info about the housing there. Good luck!!

Trinity is also offering a juicy sign-on bonus with moving costs if you go through their recruiting company. A hospital rep has said they are considering hiring out-of-country nurses because they just can't keep up with the demand. At least as far as Trinity goes, they sound very new-grad friendly.
