Jobs for LVNs?

Published

Hi,

I have a couple questions. Are LVNs for the most part only hired to work in nursing homes or home elderly care? I'm thinking about doing a LVN program and then bridge RN program, but when I get my LVN license I'm really not interested in that kind of work. :( I'm in CA and I see lots of job openings for elderly care. It's just not my thing.

Second question: When you do a bridge program, can you go right into it after graduating from the LVN program? Or do you have to work as a LVN for a year?

Lastly: Does anyone know if Gurnick is going to be offering a bridge program and if so, what campus?

Thanks!! :)

Majority of LPN's do work in LTC, Rehabs, Nursing homes, Home Health, some schools, Doctor offices, some dentist offices, if youre certified in wound care then do wound care nursing, etc. Many hospitals dont hire new LPNs.

It all depends on the school. Some schools let you start asap but many require 1-3 yrs of working as a nurse, you will have to check with the schools that you are interested in and you can also do it online.
