Job Sharing??

Hey - I was a full time school nurse for boo koo years - retired then and down-graded to sub.... Now I hear tell of a job share position in "my" corporation for just 2 days/week. I am tempted to apply - but - what are the pros & cons of job sharing??

It would be in a building I've never worked, or even subbed in....

Share your wisdom, please!

The problems I see with Job sharing is the division of responsibilities. Would one person be "in charge"? If something you started working on wasn't finished by the end of your day, would the other nurse finish it, or would it sit and wait until you got back? Communication would be an issue too. Ongoing parent phone calls might be a mess if they talk to one nurse one day, another the next, and so on. It would definitely take some great teamwork and personalities would have to mesh pretty well for it to work.

There are 2 nurses that job share in a local high school here. Each week they alternate and 1 works 2 days , the other working 3 days. The benefit is that it is fairly easy for them to take time off for vacation, personal days, etc. because the other can work and they can payback days to one another. It also allows them a second person to confer with on issues with students when needed. Neither needs benefits but if they did they wouldn't get them because they are each P/T so that could be a con for some people. Also they need to have very strong communication skills between them and procedures set up to ensure the day to day flow of the Health office.
