I have shadowed a nurse at 2 different hospitals. I had a certain area I wanted (and still want) to work in...labor and delivery. So I called 2 hospital recruiters and told them I wanted to work at their hospital and was wondering if I could shadow to see how I liked it. They told me to call a different person that set that stuff up and then I scheduled it with each person (I didn't tell each hospital that I was setting up another)
One was kind of boring...I was there for 8 hours and didn't see anything! It was a slow day The other I was there for 4 hours and I seen a c-section! So it depends on the hospital how long you are there (maybe they want you to go for 4 hours or maybe 12 hours ect) All floors may not allow you to shadow but some may :)

What hospitals did you job shadow at, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks for your response!
I have no idea how I am going to get hired! Ha. I graduated 2 months ago...took the NCLEX (and passed) 2 weeks ago...still looking for a job. I started looking before school was finished and have been looking since. I have only had 1 interview. Besides that I keep calling and emailing people to bother them in hopes that they will get tired of me and just hire me already!

I was just wondering if any local hospitals allow shadowing or nurses? I know the possibility is probably rare due to liability and the HIPA laws. Have any of you shadowed a nurse? How was the experience?
Thanks for your responses
