It looks like new-grad jobs are tough to come by in my area right now. It looks like the next new-grad class doesn't open up until February, so I have a little time to kill and a little rent to pay between now and then.
What do you guys recommend? I can give LTC a shot, or I can see what kind of tech jobs are open at a local hospital, or drive an ambulance, or pick up something like giving flu shots or handing out methadone or something.
If you were a new grad and the local hospitals weren't hiring new grads, what would you do?
I would like to end up in an ED or a psych facility at some point.
Thanks for any suggestions!

As a new grad it is difficult to be so picky. You will probably want to start out on a med/surg unit to gain experience for at least a year. It is highly unlikely you will get hired in a trauma setting (unless you have participated in a fellowship) or onto a psych unit directly out of school. Also, there are so many jobs out there. If your local hospitals have nothing available for you, have you considered relocating?

I don't think that's what the OP was asking. The OP is a new grad and can't find any job in a hospital. It's not a matter of going straight into the ED or a psych unit. It's a matter of getting any nursing job. The OP needs to get their proverbial foot in the door somewhere.
I would guess that LTC would be a good place to fill your time until Feb arrives. Best of Luck in your career.
