If you have experience, you'll find a job. However, your biggest challenge will be the lack of acute care experience. But the Houston metro area is very welcoming to experienced RNs.

Do you know the location where you'll be living? This would be a great place to start. It's tough enough to get used to such a drastically different place (NY - Houston). You don't want to increase your stress level with a nightmare commute. The dominant hospital systems are Memorial-Hermann, CHI St. Lukes & Houston Methodist. They all have centralized recruiting online, so you can peruse all the job openings in various locations.

Another tip - PLEASE take advantage of the services of an experienced Realtor when you are looking for housing. There are a lot of very 'unique' aspects in my home town - such as the fact that we don't have zoning..... never have, never will. Consequently, Home Owner Associations carry enormous clout & some HOAs are downright bizarre. I don't want you taken by surprise.
