Hey all,

I will be graduating next May with my MSN for Pediatric NP! It's been a very interesting journey this last year and a half from beginning a graduate school program, to having my first child, then having to change jobs to accommodate my school schedule. It's been busy to say the least, but with that said, I definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel. My husband and I have decided to relocate from where we currently live to either Austin or Houston.

If anyone has any knowledge, I'd like to pick your brain :D. What's the job opportunity like for a new Pediatric NP in the Houston or Austin area? Did you establish contacts early on in finding a job? I grew up in Houston and my husband is from the Austin area, but I'm not well-versed on the job market for Pediatric NPs in either area.

I research every now and then just to see which opportunities I see online, and it looks like Houston has the majority of positions out of both cities. So any information will help out :D. Thanks in advance!

Hi --I am also a newly graduated PNP and I am in Austin. It is very difficult to find anything here at all unless you can accept a day here and there at more than one office or clinic. It is also extremely expensive in Austin. I'm currently not finding anything so I am looking at relocating also. I wouldn't recommend Austin for a new PNP at all.

Houston has a lot more options than Austin which is oversaturated with NP's. I would be nervous about moving to Austin as a new grad, as most offices want experienced NP's and there are very few jobs to begin with.

Move to brownsville, TX for a bit and work in a pediatric clinic. Big money.
