Job outlook for new grad ADN in Albuquerque

Published

I wanted to ask how the job market is in Albuquerque for new grad ADN's. I will be graduating next May with my ADN/RN and I wanted to get an idea if area hospitals are hiring new grads with ADN or do they prefer BSN RN's. I heard that it may be a bit easier to land a job in New Mexico then here in Arizona. Phoenix is saturated with new grads and I would rather not wait a year to find a job. Thank you in advance!

Specializes in ICU.

I think it might be harder to find a job in the ABQ area. I have applied to a few positions there and haven't received a call back. But, definitely apply if you are interested. You will probably receive more calls back from some of the lesser known cities in the state.

Thanks for the response. The market here in Phoenix is becoming worse for ADN's. One of the major healthcare systems in the area is no longer accepting ADN new grads. They own at least 50% of the hospitals in the area so I'm looking to move to other states. Do the hospitals hire ADN's in ABQ? That will at least give me some hope.

Banner?

Yes from what I've heard from those who work at Banner they will not hire you unless you have a BSN. I'm not sure being enrolled in a BSN program would help but it might. I just don't want to be one of those new grads still looking for a job 9-12 months after getting my RN.
