Hi-
just coming here to hopefully find some insight on the job market in Massachusetts for new grads?
From what I can see it is nearly impossible to get hired. :***::***:
Can anyone shred a little advice or light on places hiring?? and giving us, newbies a chance?
Thanks

Depends on where you want to work. If you want to work in one of the big tertiary care centers in Boston the market for new grads is extremely difficult and will require for most a BSN+, experience, and/or network contact inside. If you want to work in a non-acute setting or in other parts of the state it is not nearly as bad.
Nope, not looking at the city. I know that market is tough. I've been applying to the community hospitals..Carney... Norwood .. Brockton... etc.
I'm findig it hard even with those areas too. *shrug* it's discouraging.

The cutoff seems to be about 25-30 miles from the city; if you get outside of that radius then it should open up a bit.

MA is saturated and extremely difficult to get a job as a new grad. Not only in Boston but also hospitals that are further out. BSN is pretty much standard plus if possible at least some kind of experience/volunteering.
You have to look for places that offer new graduate residency programs or special programs for new graduates. If you go to indeed and put in new graduate nurse program and MA some stuff comes up. Whittier and BIDMC have opening for new nurses, Davita has dialysis programs for new nurses. Go to hospital pages directly and look at their career section as well - not all of them advertise the jobs through indeed or such.
If you can not find anything you might be better off going to a different state to get some experience in an area you want to work. Once you have some experience, you can apply to jobs in MA. If you do not have your BSN I highly recommend going back to school to increase your chances for the future.
