HI!
I have been out of the acute care setting for six years. I have been teaching RN students in the clinical setting and teaching certified nursing assistant students for the American Red Cross. I was laid off in 2012 due to decreased funds at our local Red Cross chapter.
I have a job interview on Thursday. I suffer from bipolar type 2 and I am really worried about getting involved in the wrong type of unit. The interview is for the cardiac/pulmonary renal and stroke center.
My acute care experience although very old was in ER and cardiac. I was not diagnosed bipolar during the time I worked in this type of nursing.
If anyone has any feedback on this situation, i.e. the mental illness experience or getting back into the workforce I would appreciate the feedback.

I don't have advice about the BP but here is something you can do, search on allnurses (upper right) for bipolar or nurses with bipolar and there should be a few threads where people have needed some support.
