I'll be done with LPN school this week I have already submitted my application packet to sit for boards and my transcripts will be forwarded the BON the day of graduation. From what I understand, it's going to be at least a month before I'll actually be able to take the NCLEX. I was wondering, would I be wasting my time if I started applying for jobs now? Will facilities hire a nurse who is waiting to test? Has anybody had any luck or experience with this? Thanks in advance for your input!

YES! :) Most places will hire a graduate nurse, wether they graduated LPN or RN school. You will be a GPN until you pass boards. I graduated 3 weeks ago and have already been hired to work as a GPN. Good luck job hunting! :)

The OP is in Ohio, which means (s)he will need to pass NCLEX-PN and have the actual nursing license in hand before being allowed to work. Ohio no longer uses GNs/GPNs.
