Jefferson State Community College Fall 2015 Applicants

Published

I wanted to start a thread for all who are planning on applying to the Fall 2015 nursing program. I feel it will be very helpful in the process. I just moved to Alabama in May of last year & was originally going for Physical Therapy (not assistant, actual therapist). Well that has fallen through & I feel led to go the nursing route. I already have a bachelors degree from another college so all my prerequisites are done (just wished I would have done a little better -hince my PT problem). I have signed up for my TEAS test for February 5th so hopefully if I don't get what I want I can retake it in time for the application. I emailed one of the advisors at the Shelby campus & she said the average applicant is at 60% /90pts. When I calculate that up it doesn't seem like much. So my goal is to make around 85% or more, but we shall see. I just know I need to do VERY,VERY well on the TEAS to make up for my grades not being all A's.

How about anyone else, where do you all stand with applying this fall? Are you doing full time, night-weekend? Which campus are you all applying to?

@EricaMeadows I applied to the NW program and got in. We were informed first.

I found out Wednesday I made it into the Night and Weekend program! So excited. Has anyone else thought about starting a facebook page for each of the programs so we can keep in touch with the others in our class?

@ lulu2jenki - I was thinking about it. I just don't know how to do it or if anyone else would be interested. Do you know how to do it? I'm up for one.

Has anyone received the follow up email?

Nope I haven't. She said that we probably wouldn't receive it until early next week so I'm not expecting it until then. I am wondering though if we are going to have to have our CPR certification done by orientation. I hope not because the Saturday in July that Hoover Fire Dept. is doing it (July 11th), I will be out of town. When I called up to Jeff State last week she told me that orientation was going to be on July 14th for the Jefferson campus. I hope this is still correct because I will be on vacation the week before.

Oh ok! My email said today, so I wasn't sure. I don't know why I'm so anxious to get it! lol

I don't think CPR will be required prior to orientation. Probably just before classes start.

Does anyone know the cutoff score for the Shelby campus?

I think I heard 170, but not positive.

Shelby cut off had to be near 180 because my friend did not get in with 179.5

I was accepted last year and because of work and not putting enough time into studying, I "failed" one class by less than a point. I got accepted again this year to the N/W program at Shelby :)

I would definitely suggest making a facebook page. Even though you're in class each week together, it really helps with making study groups, asking quick questions, etc...

If no one has made one yet, I can :)

You don't have to have CPR or any of the medical stuff done before orientation :cat:
