Jeff State or UAB? What do you think?

Help? What to do?

Should I go to UAB or Jeff State? BSN vs. ADN isn't an issue for me just now but having a high GPA and being a prepared nurse when I graduate is the main concern. What do y'all think? What is your experience or what have you heard?

I'm nervous to jump in without knowing the scoop.:nurse::confused:

Specializes in Peds OR as RN, Peds ENT as NP.

If you already have a Bachelor's degree I would go with UAB and get another one. I got accepted into the 2nd degree program for Fall semester. I heard that it is a good school.

Do you think UAB is a better program? Is it a harder program?

I actually am wondering the same thing! I imagine it won't be as hard because it is not accelerated, like the other program I applied to. But I don't know. Did you apply or just thinking of applying?

I'm trying to decide between the two (Jeff State or UAB). If I choose UAB (and they accept me), it would be the 5 semester program.

Some of the threads I've read don't seem to favor Jeff State. BUT Jeff State may be easier because there are less classes and hopefully make a higher GPA. Atleast that's what I'm thinking.

But if Jeff State is really a nightmare, I would rather UAB. :uhoh3: UGH!! I can't image it being so bad??

My son-on-law just graduated from UAB's school of nursing this May and he was very unhappy with their program and the people running it. From his experience I decided to apply to Jeff State for their program. The UAB program had too many disorganized instructors and some of the classes were a complete waste of time and money. One class in particular they wanted the students to ride the Maxx bus system in rough areas of town for a whole day...an EIGHT hour day! My son-in-law did not understand the purpose for that waste of time and money. There were times they sent students to poor areas of town for "community" nursing and they were told to call the minute they arrived and were inside safe and to call when they left and check in often so they knew the student was OK. They knew they were sending students into dangerous situations yet they did it any way. No, I will not be giving UAB any of my money. I watched his ordeal for 2 miserable years. Once he was told to meet at a certain time at a certain location and when he showed no one was there. Hours later he found the instructur and discovered she had moved the class 15 minutes prior to class starting and didn't post a sign. If you weren't there early you missed out....she gave him a zero for the day. He had to go above her head and complain to get the situation fixed. There are so many stories I could tell you...just not enough time or space here to do them justice.
