Jeff State Students - ERI

No advice on how to study - other than taking the eri practice tests on their website (which was much easier than the actual test I took!).

The good news is that failing eri no longer equals failing the class. Now, it counts as 5 points. You have 2 opportunities to take the test. If you do not score above the national average, you don't get your 5 points, but you don't fail out, either.

Also, for the first semester eri (calculations & classifications), you only have to score above the national average in the calculation and the dosage & administration categories, not classifications.

That's at Jeff State? When was the policy changed? I'm actually 2nd semester. Taking peds to be exact. I failed the nutrition in the spring, which when I took the practice test I scored way above the average and then I failed the real one twice. I have passed all other ERI tests on the first try. Most people from my class said that the way they passed nutrition was sheer luck. If the 5 points thing is true, I am so very happy to hear that! Thanks for your reply.

Yes, Jeffstate. This is the first semester they are doing it that way - I didn't even realize they had changed the policy until after I had taken the test. I think too many people have been failing out since ERI changed from 3x to take same test to 2x to take different tests.

I believe the 5 points was only for first semester. I know 4th semester is not like this! I also heard of a girl not being able to graduate ( this summer) because she was not able to pass on her second attempt on the exit ERI.

Well, my first semester we took the calculations ERI and we got our results in a few days (they did it paper and pencil - not online). Then when they were going to schedule the people who needed to retake it, they came and said that they weren't going to do the math calculations ERI anymore with first semester, so it didn't matter if we passed or failed. So I thought that meant they were doing away with the ERI for first semester. But then I heard people talking about it again. I didn't ask though. I was thinking if they had changed the policy we would have gotten some sort of notification, but I wasn't in a nursing course over the summer. I had to take the remediation for my 'withdrawal' from a nursing class. I always feel so left out in the dark with what's going on. And I always hear things that I have no idea how people get their information. Which most of the time it is untrue, but I don't see how they make some of this stuff up.

If you do fail the exit ERI and it's your first failure in nursing, do you then have to retake the last semester? Or do you have to start over from the beginning. I've heard something about people having to start over from the beginning (first semester - fifth semester) if they fail the last semester, but I just think that sounds a little crazy.

Im not sure what happens. I would be very upset if I had to start with the first semster again!!!
