Jeff State Fall 2012

U.S.A. Alabama

Published

I noticed there were threads for the other semesters, so I thought I would get this one started. There's another week until the deadline, but I've finished everything I can do. Now it's just waiting.

I'm hoping to start the fall semester at the Jefferson campus. If I did the calculations correctly, I have 205 points on the checklist. Good luck everyone; I hope to see you this fall.

I am already nervous and the deadline was yesterday! I am hoping that we get phone calls or letters quicker than previous classes, but I don't want to rush it because I am enjoying summer!! I applied to the Jefferson campus.

I wasn't given a choice of which campus I could apply at. If I'm not mistaken the nursing adviser said they were only offering it at the Shelby campus this time(part-time program), which happens to be the furthest away from me. Has anybody else heard this?

i just spoke with (moderator edit of name - please do not post names of individuals in your program per tos to which you agreed upon registration) and she said they had around 700 applications for the 2012 night and weekend part-time program. she said that's the most she has seen ever! (moderator edit of name - please do not post names of individuals in your program per tos to which you agreed upon registration) said they usually receive around 300. not to make anybody nervous, just thought i would pass the info along. she also said to be expecting a call the first or second week of july.

Holy cow! 700?!? I was feeling fairly confident with my final points score of 228.5, but now, I am not so sure. I guess my conundrum of choosing NW/Full time will be solved if I can get into any of the options. Lord help...

Iwent and sat down with the advisor and she calculated my points for me. I ended up with 211.5 and she told me that was a very good score. I am hoping it will get me in!

@ Pom16- I am in the same position relocating to Birmingham my boyfriend is attending the IMBD program and applied to the the ASN program because out of state tuition is ridiculous at UAB- nursing! I am hoping to get in as well I have 210 points and so far I have heard mixed scores of students who have gotten in past semesters. Good luck to everyone and let the countdown begin!

The nursing adviser said in the past the cut off was around 185, her opinion was that the cut off will be considerably higher due to the number of applicants. Well I'm glad this is my second career.

Don't worry ya'll! My cuz got in last fall with 165 points! She told me that many students don't fill out their applications correctly and don't have their transcripts on file which eliminates A LOT of our competition :yeah: The place on the application where it says TEAS score many students put their percent right and not their score so then it looks like they have much lower points then they actually do! Sad but it's attention to detail like that that shows if you have what it takes to be a :nurse:

Has anyone else looked at the fall schedule online for nursing classes(the ones you take 1st semester) and seen that they are all almost full?

The only option I see for a Fall schedule is view only for Fall 2011.

Yeah, thats what I did. Then when I search nursing classes, I click on the class itself and it shows how many seats are left in that class.

No worries. That's last year's schedule.
