JCCC 2016 RN Program

Nursing Students School Programs

I had my interview for the RN program at JCCC (Johnson County Community College) in early March 2016. I am anxiously waiting to hear! I know we might have to wait until May, but sure hope we find out sooner!

Congratulations to all of you!!! I am in the class about to graduate from JCCC! I remember the very same excitement you all have! Remember this excitement when you get into hard content during your semesters! Good luck to all of you! Nursing school is a tough journey, but so worth it when you get that RN job offer at the end í ½í¸Ší ½í¸Š

I'm not currently working as a CNA, but I'm hoping to be soon! I have an interview at Olathe Med next week. I do plan to work while in the program; I am a professional photographer and also plan to continue doing that in my spare time- not ready to give that up yet :)

Congrats on graduation! Were you able to decide on an area of nursing you want to pursue a career in? I'm so undecided at this point so it will be fun to see what happens in the next two years :)

I just had an interview with children's mercy and I'm waiting to hear back from St. Luke's as well. I figured I would at least *try* to work through school (you know, so that I can eat) :)

I also am super undecided regarding nursing career paths! I'm interested in L&D, but also Memory care and several things in between, So who knows! I'm sure clinicals will help us decide.

I have been trying to get on at CMH for months! I'm hoping once I have some experience and get through the 1st semester of school that maybe I'll have a better chance :) I am also interested in L&D, Mother/Baby, and Peds :) I work with babies and children now and I'd love to continue doing that.

I will be a PCU nurse at Saint Luke's South! And eventually transition to the ICU! My absolute passion is in pediatrics, but I have to have a good nursing base before working with the little ones! You will probably figure out what you want to do within those first couple of semesters!

I have been trying to get on at CMH for months!

I've heard the hiring process can take months at CMH, but I'm holding out hope! I have a lot of friends who are nurses there, and the praises they sing are endless.

Yeah, I've heard it can take a while as well. I had a video interview but that's as far as I got. Good luck! I hope you get on there!

Got an invitation for an in-person interview at CMH! Hopefully it will go far more smoothly than the video interview - I was painfully awkward in that!

That's great! Is this for a PRN position or are you wanting part time?

I'm actually going for FT temp through August, then switching to PT. I'm really hoping to swing a 12 or two a week through school, but we will see!

@skessl10 - would you mind giving me your opinion on something please?

I still need to take patho which I was planning to do in the fall, but I'm wondering if it would be better for my workload to take it in the summer (either way it will have to be online). My concern with taking it over the summer is that it's SO MUCH information to fit into a 7 week course :/

Knowing what you know about the first semester of the program, do you think adding an extra class on top of everything would be crazy? I'm a good student and currently have an A in physiology so I know it will be manageable for me either way...but I also have three kids and would like to see them at some point over the next two years ;)
