Jamaican Educated RN Registered in Ontario, Canada?

Published

Hello everyone, I am a newbie!

Are there any Jamaican nurses here that did their BScN program at UWISON Jamaica and got registration in Ontario? Did CNO accept your credentials after they was assessed? And what was the registration process like?

I am a third year nursing student at the above mentioned school who I just got residency in Canada. I will have to move there straight away after completing my nursing program and getting the NCJ registration in order to fulfill my PR obligations.

I really dont know what to expect when I get there so any advice would be appreciated.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Average processing time is over 12 months for IEN and most have to attend some form of assessment. Suggest checking out the CNO website on requirements but at the end of the day the only way to find out is submit application and wait for results

Thank you Silverdragon102 for your response,

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am actually an enrolled nurse(LPN) in my country for eight years now as well a current BScN student. I have applied to CNO for RPN registration in 2011 and I have passed the CPNRE but the registration process could not be completed because I was not yet a resident. I have just gotten the residency but according to CNO I will have to reapply before they can reopen my file since 3 years have passed.

Hi Roses101, can you tell me of the process you went through to get registered?
