My Boring Stats:
A's in prereq's except ANP 2...taking that class now.
Horribly embarrassing TEAS at 76, still have two more tries. (Which is why I'm taking math and phys sci this summer. lol)
Hope to get into the Bloomington or Terre Haute programs. (Yay! Greene county gets region pts at both. lol)
Currently frazzling myself out with 5 online classes
It's nice to meet you....whoever you are....
Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know that....I GOT INTO THE LPN PROGRAM AT GARY!!!! I have kept a low profile lately after not getting the acceptance letter for The ASN program in order to keep my sanity. The letters were supposed to go out by the 15th! I got my letter today and I am so excited! Its not the ASN program, but either way I am going to be a nurse and I will be an ASN!!!! Now I have to figure what I need to do now as far as the paperwork!! HELP!!
Pezamistik, When is your registration for ASN program? i didn't know if they did the LPN and ASN together or seperate. I'm excited about really getting started. I'm glad that the waiting is over, but now the real work is about to begin. I want to prepare myself as much as I can to be successful in this program. This is much bigger for me than just being a nurse, and I can't wait to get started on this new chapter in my life.
Pez, My registration is the same day and time as yours 10 am to 12 pm. Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet and chat there. I have so many questions about the cost and what we'll need to buy, and if my FA is going to cover all of the expenses. Do you know anything about the uniforms and the other things we will need to purchase?
2bsy - I wish I knew more about what we need to buy. I'd like to start buying things we need now, so I can spread the total cost out over the span of a couple months instead of being hit with it all at once. I'm on a very tight budget!
The only thing I know about the uniforms is from what I've seen current and past nursing students wearing. I've seen students wearing tan polo shirts or tan scrub tops with green scrub pants. The polo tops have embroidery on the left chest, and the scrub tops have a nursing program patch on the sleeve. I have a few of the polo shirts and scrub tops since someone I know gave them to me at the end of the Spring '09 semester. Hopefully the uniforms will be the same so I can save a few $$$ there.
When I stopped in the nursing dept office about a week or so ago, I was told there was going to be additional information sent out soon. I just can't wait for registration. There's so much to do, and I want to get started on it!
I know what you mean about wanting to get as much done as you can. I have already scheduled my cpr classs for next month, so I have that out of the way. My high school is sending me a copy of my immunization record so i can make an appointment next month for my shots and physical to get done. I'm hoping that they give us enough time to purchase everything because like you, I'm on a tight budget too. With the holidays around the corner I really am on a mission to watch every dime I spend. I don't know which is the worse, waiting for the letters, or waiting for the orientation!
2bsy - What association did you schedule a CPR class through? AHA... Red Cross... or something else? I tried looking on the AHA website, but there are a few different CPR course options. I'm not sure which one I would need, but none of them are offered within 20 miles of where I live anyway. The Red Cross has one coming up soon that I'm thinking about enrolling in. I was just wondering which association you are going through for your certification.
i am taking mine through the aha, i found a certified trainer in dyer. she either has the sessions at her home or she can come to where you are. she charges 50 bucks for the session, and you get your card the same day. the certification is good for two years. here is the website, www.takecprtoday.com
