Ivy Tech Indy/Lawrence or any where?

I was just wondering if there were any Indy/Lawrence students that are in the begining of their pre_reqs? I am starting my pre-reqs in the fall, and I was just wondering if there was anyone at the same stage or close to it.

Hi! I am also starting my pre-reqs in August. I am taking 6 classes total- 5 online and 1 at the Lawrence campus. I am taking ENG 111, MAT 050, PSYC 101, SOCI 164, IVYT 105, and APHY 101. I know it is a lot but I am trying to make sure I can apply for the Fall 2010 RN program.

What classes are you planning to take? Also, when are you hoping to appy for the RN program?

Specializes in Correctional Nursing, Orthopediacs.

Just about to finish the program good luck.

I will be applying this fall and I have to say good luck with that. I was brave and took six classes my first semester and worked 40 hours and was pregnant and it killed me. I also was not taking anp....that class takes 100 percent dedication and a lot of studying. I was able to make it through but I feel I couldve gotten more from the courses if I had taken less. If you are not completely ready for that you might get burnt out quick. But good luck with it:)

I am getting laid off in August, 10 days before classes start. Luckily I have taken some of these classes before at IBC (unfortunately they do not transfer) so I hope I will be ok.

I know it is going to take a lot though and I am starting to get really nervous!

I am also pregnant and have a 3 1/2 year old!!!

Ahh half of your classes are super easy anyway :) I took 5 courses including 101 and managed to get a B in 101 only because I slacked off for one test! Its all time management! I am continuing pre reqs this fall after deciding to push back the ASN program another year. I am taking ENGL 111 again, CINS 101 again, PSYC 201, and SPAN 101. All online. However, I may drop Psych and take 101 again if I can get a face to face at Lawrence. What campus is your english class out of? Join us on the Indiana Nursing Programs board...we are ALL ivy tech!

KGLE-

I'm glad to hear someone else has taken a full load and was successful. I will be taking my ENGL 111 out of the Lawrence campus. How is ENGL 101?? I hate writing papers so I am really dreading this class the most!

Have you attended one of the nursing info sessions? I went last week to just get some more info, although between this site and just reading the handouts I picked up back in June I think all the information I already had. Most of the questions and stuff were more special circumstance.

I am also planning on taking SPAN 101, I will see how it goes to decide whether I want to take more...I did pretty well in high school and I can hold a small conversation, really I am better at understanding rather than speaking.

It was a crazy semester since I was working full time and also had a 2 year old at the time (3 now, yikes!). I really liked 111...I think I am taking mine out of Lawrence too. The papers were actually super interesting and I don't mind them :) It shouldn't be too bad! I went to one last year but I am going again in August to see the changes.

I took 2 1/2 years of Spanish in high school and got As so I am hoping this is pretty simple, but I need to brush up and really think its a good idea in the nursing field! I am always afraid to speak it because I think spanish speaking people will make fun of me lol.

When you are planning on applying? I am trying to get in for Fall '10.

Oh, nevermind! I see you are trying to get in then too! If I end up taking 101 again, we should be study partners :) I am assuming you are taking 102 in the spring...I have to retake that too (can you tell that last semester I completely slacked off?? lol). I will PM you with the instructors that you want and don't want for that one :)

Yeah I am trying to get in Fall 2010, hopefully we will start together!! And yes I will be taking 102 in the Spring too. We should definitely be study partners...I am so scared of these A&P classes (but ENGL 111 even more lol.)

I also have a 3 year old, will be 4 in November and I am due in December!!

That is so funny that you mentioned spanish speaking people laughing at you as you attempt to speak the language, that happened to me. Apparently my Spanish was not as good as I thought...VERY EMBARRASSING needless to say. They were fine with it though and really just appreciated the effort, after they stopped laughing uncontrollably.

Oh yeah, have you taken the TEAS yet? I am going to wait until all four of the pre-reqs are finished prior to taking. So I'll probably take the official test sometime in Spring, but I want to take a couple practice tests prior. If you have taken or are currently studying for it did you purchase the study guide from the bookstore or anything??

Once you get into it, 101 is definitely not that bad. 102 is harder, at least it was for me, because its completely different from 101 since you get more into the physiology aspect. With 101 its almost strictly identifying and memorizing. 102 is way more critical thinking. Oh don't fear 111! If you need help proofreading and such I am more than willing to help out, PLUS my boyfriend's mother majored in English, so extra help there!

My 3 year old will be 4 in April! Time flies!

I took the TEAS earlier this year and got an 85 on it without studying. Its truly not that bad, but I suggest taking MATH 118 beforehand which is also one of the co reqs you have to take. Or at least go over some of the info. There is a lot of physics/chem on there as well as earth science so that was my downfall. Taking the practice tests really helped me see how the test was layed out. I also have the study manual somewhere so you are more than welcome to borrow it, but its all loose paper.

I am definitely glad to hear some things about the classes both positive and negative. I hope that I do well and hopefully we will both get in the program next Fall. Not too many people on here yet that are talking about Fall 2010. I will definitely be keeping in contact with you as the semester progresses!
