Hi! I am new to allnurses.com and was hoping to get some feedback from Ivy Tech students intending to apply for Fall 2011 admission into either the LPN or ASN programs. I know they're obviously using completely new criteria/admission guidelines now and was curious as to how everyone was doing and where other people were falling in terms of their overall scores? Also, how is the new version of the TEAS? I recently purchased the study guide and am planning to take the TEAS in early February, so I still have plenty of time to retake it, should I want to improve my score. Anyway, I wish everyone applying the best of luck and look forward to hearing how everyone is doing!

All of that's actually being discussed in this thread: Ivy Tech Fall 2011 - Nursing for Nurses .
I, myself, haven't yet taken the TEAS V. I did, however, take version IV, and if that test is any bit indicative of how I'll perform on the new one, then my score should be around 91.2. Granted, for that last one I didn't study at all, so maybe if I do some studying beforehand I'll be able to squeeze out a few more points to help ensure I gain entrance into the ASN program. I also have all my A's, and I'm working on my coreqs right now as well. Right now I'm taking Microbiology 201 and Advanced Physiology 201, and then over the summer I'll be taking Eng 112, and thennnnnn I think it'll be in the Spring of 2012 that I'll be taking my LifeSkills elective.

I haven't taken the TEAS V yet, however I heard it is much harder than the previous versions. BUT, I hope the people who told me that were just really dumb, haha... hoping it's not that bad. I will be taking it this month sometime, I am signing up for it tomorrow. I'm nervous. I have the study guide but haven't had a lot of time to actually study or take the practice tests. I have 3 kids and am taking 2 classes right now (A&P 102 and Lifespan Dev. Psy.). So I'm busy, but I know nursing school will be MUCH busier, so I better start planning better! I have all A's right now and plan to keep it that way for as long as I can. Have you taken the test yet? I see you posted a while ago now. If you did, what did you think of it?
Not even gonna lie, that made me chuckle a couple of times.

I am planning to apply to the Kokomo Campus for the ASN program in the Fall of 2012. I have taken all my prerequisties and coreq's. I took the TEAS version V in January of 2011. As far as some other people being dumb that is completely false...I think people are going under the assumption that this new TEAS test is something like the old one. Truth is, this TEAS was EXTREMELY hard and I have gotten all A's in all my prereq's and co even advance physiology. My individual overall score was a 78. Math - 90, Science - 72, Reading - 78, English - 66. i rounded those just by the decimal points. I would advise people not to underestimate this new TEAS. I am not trying to psyc people out but it was tough!!!
Good Luck to everyone taking it

OMG really? What did you study? Honestly, your score just made me feel better...
See I didn't study at all.. I did like the practice Math and Reading test in the back of the ATI study guide.. the day before and that's it.. I got like a 61.4%. I felt kinda stupid..but the science was really hard to me...and I didn't get to finish the math.. I think I had like 3-4 problems left.. I don't know if I'm gonna take it again.. it's a good enough score for the LPN program that I got into but I don't know if it's good enough for a few other programs that I'm applying to.
Are you gonna take it over again hon?
I wouldn't get to upset about scoring below what you thought you would because I have been hearing people say the average scores are like a 67% overall. I was getting paranoid because I kept reading all these posts from people saying I got a 99% (yes I'm exaggerating :)) on my TEAS V (which may or may not be true). But, you also have to take into account these people might not have all A's....some people truly are JUST good test takers. And not only that they are probably in the top 10% of the applicant pool. There are PLENTY more spots then just for those in the top ten percent for the nursing program. There are alot more people out there with scores similar to yours that are afraid to post because they feel embarassed about what they got, even though it was the average. Just my thoughts, keep your head up if you don't get in reapply I know that sucks but you know what to expect now.
Don't worry, be happy.

I never took TEAS IV, but I agree! TEAS V was extremely hard. I scored a 73% my first time, and then only an 82% on my second. I studied for two months from the ATI testing book! My score was good enough to get into my program, but still! Very hard.. don't underestimate!

I took TEAS IV last year and made an 82. Took TEAS V this year and made an 83.3. I freaked out at first but one of the ATI reps said that TEAS V scores are signifigantly lower then TEAS IV. LAst year the average entrance score was an 85. But that was for TEAS IV. I am debating retaking the exam, I would feel comfortable with a higher score. But I placed in the top 6 percent and I have to keep reminding myself that the top 6 percent arent applying to my college. So I will know if I get in come this October. Dont freak out, just try and take the TEAS V early enough that if you dont get a decent score youll have time to retake it. Our school allows 2 exams per year. The study guide was right on. I felt that the math was easier then the old test but science was WAY harder.
