Ivy Tech Fall 2018 Hopefuls

Published

Hello, everyone! Indy applicant for the Fall 2018 cycle here. I do not plan on applying at any other campuses, because I have 4 children and it's not feasible to drive over an hour from my home to clinicals and class. I have 60 points for A&P 101, English and Psych. I was told to nearly guarantee a spot, I needed to get at least an 80 on my TEAS! So it looks like 140 might be a minimum score needed to get in Indy's campus! I am taking my TEAS in April. Any tips? I am so nervous, because I have been out of high school a while and graduated from IU with a BS in Psychology. I do not have a strong science background! Good luck everyone! I will update when I complete my TEAS!

Purchase the TEAS Mastery app for your phone and do questions with every spare minute you have. It will help you see where you need to focus to improve your score. Then watch Khan Academy videos and take notes on whatever isn't clear to you. I also recommend doing the online ATI practice test(s) as you get very close to your TEAS date to get a feel for what the actual exam is like. You can take each of them two times, and they provide detailed feedback.

I'm going to apply for the LPN-RN transition in Indy... have all B's and just took my teas and got an 82 so I'll have a total of 120, I pray that's enough!

Thank you! I will definitely do this!

That is a GREAT TEAS score...one can only hope to get that!

I am also applying to indy campus. I scored a 79.3% on the teas which puts me at a 139/160. I was told that was a competitive score but it just depends on how many applicant's there are. For teas i used the ati book, mometrix book, youtube, khan academy, made flash cards, and I also used some of my A&P notes.Good luck to you!

That's great! I'm on the Ivy Tech Facebook Nursing site & it looks like that is a score that will more than likely get you in! I have talked to several people that are applying and their scores are much lower! I take my TEAS a week from tomorrow! I will come back to update.

Is there anything from the sections that I should know and study hardcore on?

From what i hear there are several different versions of the test. I had a lot of hormone questions. 2 or 3 chemistry questions. Some questions about skin, the digestive system and respiratory system. There is a Facebook group called ati teas study group that was very very helpful. Have you taken the practice test on the ATI website?

Yikes! I'm in A&P 102, so I'm good with the digestive and resp. I haven't learned about endocrine yet, so I have been trying to study. Are the specific to the location they are secreted? I have taken both practice tests. The first time I didn't do well, but I re-took practice A and got an 89%! Did you find the practice tests to be similar, more difficult, or easier than the actual TEAS?

For the endocrine system, you want to know which organ secretes what. They don't get too in depth with it though. Also know what the beta and alpha cells are and where they are secreted. I think practice B was a little harder than practice test A, but I think the actual test was easier than both practice tests.

I just wanted to update the thread with my scores!! I got an 86.7 on the TEAS! My sub-scores ended up giving me 87 points toward the program! I will be applying at Indy/Lawrence for Fall 2018 with 147/160! Good luck everyone :)

That is an awesome score!! You will get in for sure
