IVY Tech - Columbus campus LPN-ASN question

Does anyone know if the LPN-ASN bridge program there requires one year of LPN experience?
I emailed them and their reply was attend an info session.

Hey there - I am looking at the hand-out given at the Columbus informational session.....

I do not see where it says anything about LPN experience. It says: - in addition to items required by traditional track (ASN) students, that the LPN-to-ASN Transitional track applicants must also provide the following documentation:

1) current IN practical nursing license

2) Official transcript of the PN program completed

3) Official documentation of successful completion of the 15-19 credit hours of first level gen ed courses:

ANP 101
ANP 102
ENG 111
PSY 101
MAT 111
ASN faculty also recommend that the student complete the Microbiology course requirement prior to the beginning of the 2nd level of the ASN program.

I don't see anything else...if you have other questions, feel free to pm me. I have applied to the traditional ASN track for Fall and am awaiting a response. I have all my possible class points and an 89 on the TEAS so I am crossing my fingers and saying my prayers

Hi IU95!

No they do not require you to have any experience working as an LPN, only that you are licensed. I know girls that have graduated the LPN program in December and were enrolled in the LPN to ASN bridge program for the following AUgust.

Thanks for info. I am presently in Bloomington IVY Tech LPN program and will graduate in DEC '06.

I was hoping to continue on immediately with bridge program, but I hear Bloomington is sooo competitive.

I have good grades, but will not be able to finish adv physiology before application deadline so will not get those quality points for this next cycle.

I had heard Columbus was not as competitive,so was planning on applying to both and hope for one to say yes.

Guess we'll see.

Let me just give you some info that was given to me - and/or share my experience...

1st congratulations on being in the LPN program. I also attend Bloomington right now and have a few friends in that program. I also know of 3 people (at least) that got into the RN program last fall and did not have ALL there classes in. It can't hurt to try both places. I took Adv. Physio last semester and I truly thought about dropping out of school. Not to scare you, but it was the instructor's first time teaching this class and his teaching style/testing style were so different than anything we had experienced up to that point. It was bad! I ended up pulling an A, but it was only because of an extra assignment he threw in at the last minute due to all the poor grades. There were 3 exams and the class average on all 3 was around 67%! NO JOKE!! Anyway, I think Noah is the only one that teaches 201, but if you can find someone else to take it from - DO IT!

Again, I would recommend applying at both Columbus and Bloomington -whether you have all your points or not...you never know :)
